NAIDOC Celebration

As part of National NAIDOC week celebrations at The Gordon, the Geelong Tech School was commended with a Commitment award.

There were three award categories – Achievement, Contribution, and Commitment, each for delivering educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. We received the award for Commitment, recognising the outstanding commitment to the South West Koorie Academy of Excellence, delivery of STEM camps, staff professional development, and ongoing commitment to the partnership.

Standout recognition went for mobilising the team with a two day turn around during Covid lockdowns in 2020, delivering workshops at the 2023 State KAE Camp in Rubicon, and lastly, but most significantly, for the ongoing commitment to the delivery of annual Indigenous STEM camps four years running.

Congratulations, and thanks to all staff over the last four years, whose input into the above events has led to this recognition.

We look forward to working with the South West KAE again at the next camp in September, titled ‘Country to Coolamon‘.
