Girls in STEM

We held our annual ‘Girls in STEM’ event early in March to align with and celebrate International Women’s Day.

On a vibrant day at Geelong Tech School, over 30 students from various partner schools, including Iona College Geelong, Sacred Heart College Geelong, NORTH GEELONG SECONDARY COLLEGE, Geelong Lutheran College, and Kardinia International College, immersed themselves in a dynamic Girls in STEM event. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as these young minds delved into a plethora of activities aimed at igniting their passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Guided by the wisdom and experiences of inspirational women in STEM fields, the students embarked on a journey of discovery and empowerment. Catherine Phillips from Cleanaway Waste Management, Eva Weatherall from CSIRO, Katie Lock from Xero, and Brooke Barr from Barwon Water generously shared their time and insights, leaving an indelible mark on the impressionable minds before them.

“Advocate for yourself and never doubt your ability”

The event not only showcased the boundless opportunities within STEM but also underscored the importance of representation and mentorship in nurturing the next generation of trailblazing women in the field.
