A ‘hands-on’ dive into the Engineering Process – VCE Engineering
This professional learning opportunity hopes to provide insight into the learning involved in the production of a small autonomous vehicle.
We will step through the processes that VCE Systems Engineering students are required to follow to adequately document the Engineering Process for Area of Study & Outcome 1 for Unit 1 to 4.
The session will focus on each stage of the project and Engineering Process, including:
- Getting started
- Design methods and tools (CAD)
- Choice of components and materials (microcontrollers, PCBs, prototyping)
- Best practices for documentation
- Testing methods
- Evaluation and assessment

About the Presenter
Seven Vinton is now in his 26th year of teaching technology and arts education. He has extensive experience teaching three VCE subjects and consistently helps students achieve high levels of success, including an impressive study score average of over 33 in Systems Engineering. A pioneer in integrating digital technologies into education, Seven co-authored two textbooks with Nelson-Cengage and has presented at multiple state-level conferences. A career highlight includes mentoring a student to achieve a near-perfect study score in Systems Engineering in 2022, earning a spot in Top Designs 2023.
Seven serves as the STEM Leader at Oberon High School and has been a vital partner to the Geelong Tech School since its launch in 2017.
