Industry Design Sprint

Any student who’s curious, creative, and enjoys working with others! Whether you’re into design, problem-solving, communication, or just want to try something new outside the classroom, this event is for you. You don’t need to be an expert, just bring your ideas, energy, and willingness to collaborate with your classmates.
 

You’ll gain hands-on experience solving a real-world challenge from a local industry, working in a team to brainstorm and pitch your ideas. Along the way, you’ll build valuable skills in teamwork, communication, and creative thinking. Plus, you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to work in a professional environment, and have a lot of fun doing it! 
 

Day 1    (Discover & Ideate)
You’ll visit a local industry site and learn about a genuine challenge they’re facing. Once back at the Tech School, work in your team to explore the problem, brainstorm creative solutions, and start shaping your ideas.

Day 2    (Create & Pitch)
Build a simple prototype of your solution, refine it, then pitch your idea back to industry professionals. It’s a fast-paced day of teamwork, creativity, and real-world impact. 
 

Step One: We need you to enter as a team. So the first thing you need to do is go and find 4-5 other students from your school who also want to participate.

Step Two: Get one of your teachers on board. Send them to this page so they can register the team for you (scroll down to the form). 
 

Transportation
Participants are to make their own way to and from the Geelong Tech School each day. The Geelong Tech School will provide a bus to and from the industry on day one.

Food
Participants are required to bring their own lunch each day.

Safety and Supervision
Geelong Tech School will take on the duty of care of all participants. Partner school teachers are welcome to attend, but are not required.
