Join us for an exciting Industry Design Sprint tailored exclusively for girls in years 9-10! This empowering gathering is designed to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and pave the way for a future filled with endless possibilities.
If you are interested in all things STEM, emerging technologies, solving real-world problems, and working closely with experts in Industries around Geelong, we are looking for you to join us at the Tech School!
This event allows girls to broaden their horizons, expand their knowledge, and connect with like-minded peers who share their curiosity and enthusiasm. The Girls in STEM event fosters an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration, mentorship, and building lasting friendships. Through engaging activities and discussions, girls will hopefully realise that their unique perspectives and talents are essential in shaping the future of innovation.
Key Details
Who: Year 9-10 female-identifying/non-binary students from our partner schools. Must register as part of a team.
Where: Geelong Tech School (Corner of Latrobe Terrace and Little Malop St)
When: Monday 30th June – Tuesday 1st July 2025 (last week of Term 2)
What: 2x full days of collaborating, ideating, and prototyping designs to help address challenges presented by local industries.
Time:Â 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
Cost: Free

Industry Partners
The participants will be spending some time at both Barrier Group and the SES.
Team Registration
Partner School Teachers are required to submit the teams using the form below. Each team must consist of 5-6 students.
Team members’ names and emails must be provided. These students will then be emailed a link for them to register as individuals.

Participation Requirements
Students must be in Year 9 or 10 and should be enthusiastic and eager to engage in hands-on design and prototyping activities.
Event Structure
Day 1: Industry visit, define the challenge, ideate solutions.
Day 2: Build, test, and adapt prototype solution, hear from inspiring local women in STEM careers, present proposed solution
Logistics
Participants are to make their own way to and from the Tech School each day. They are also required to bring their own food/lunch each day.
Safety and Supervision
Geelong Tech School will take on the duty-of-care of all participants.
Partner school teachers are welcome to attend, however are not required.
